Ultra Set is a premium quality flexible single component moisture curing elastomeric polyurethane timber flooring adhesive.

Formulated to adhere most types of wood, parquet, strip and sheet timber flooring systems to concrete, timber and metal.

    • The polyurethane that is included is very easy to use. Simply lay up one board at a time and do not lay up any further ahead.
    • Note: you only lay one board at a time with Deck-Max™ so it is easy to lay up a 5 to 10 mm bead up the centre of the joist then lay board down - fix next biscuit then start again.
    • I do find that I may use a little more glue than is included in the kits e.g. I bought a Kit size 30 and used 1 and a bit extra 300 ml cartridge.
    • The best measure to see if I was applying the right amount was to fix the board down under full pressure then I looked under the board and I could see a small bead of glue that had spread out the side of the board. If you cannot see any apply more.

    Performance Properties:

    • Typical properties after 7 days cure at 25 degrees C and 50% RH.
    • Will not re-emulsify when in contact with moisture.
    • Tested to ASTM C794 for peel adhesion to various species of Australia hardwoods.
    • Non-Flammable

Australian made Bostik ULTRASET SF is recommended by the manufacturer to be laid up with 90% cover. Do not lay glue to wet/moist joists or dirty metal joists.

This process is part of the Deck-Max™ proprietary complete decking solutions.

When applying to steel galvanised floor joists prepare the surface of the joist with N40 Primer [Bostik]. See manufacturer's specifications.

Lay 5mm to 10mm bead of adhesive over top of the joist in a thick bead to achieve a minimum 90% cover. You should end up with a small bead visible from the underside of the decking board on both sides after fixing.

Adhesive available from Deck-Max™. Each kit of Deck-Max™biscuits will include a certain quantity of the Ultra Set, however, it is normally accepted that we all use a little more than expected, so please ask your Deck-Max™ supplier to supply some extra to be sure.

All butt joints should have an exterior adhesive wiped over each face prior to fixing. All joints must have an exterior construction adhesive inserted to each kerf/lateral cut, prior to inserting the butt joint biscuit [part ref. DM-J10] Butt joints should always be set on joists.

Clean off excess glue as soon as the joint is closed up.

Coverage:  These estimates are approximate only and all quantities are based on the design of the area and the shape. These will vary the coverage and estimates of cover. Coverage assumptions are based on the joists set @ 450 mm centers and using 90mm to 140mm decking boards. Each pack of Deck-Max™ will show coverage per pack so you can estimate for your bill of quantities.

    • Be sure top of joists are dry.
    • Coverage – allow approx. one 300ml cartridge per 5 to 6 sq.m. of decking.
    • Application – lay up a 5mm bead [90% coverage] for a visual reference when the board is fixed you should have a small bead coming out both [under] sides of the joist.

    Notes:

When using on metal floor joists, use the N40 primer to wipe the top of the joist before laying your timber decking. Refer to manufacture's specifications.

Maintenance – A decking oil treatment and maintenance program is essential and should be applied and monitored for the preservation of the decking.

Deck coatings – refer to the manufacturers' specifications for their each product.

Follow all manufacturers' specifications and recommendations.

Deck-Max™complete decking solutions specifications are updated on a regular basis. All changes take precedence over previous timber decking specifications.

Cupping – Cupping is minimised by using Deck-Max™ as a fixing which retains the board on the outside and applying downward pressure to a spot that is not retained by surface fix screw or nail.

Full control of cupping is based on the selection of kiln dried timber to a local ambient moisture content. Timbers of larger size should be allowed extra space in the gap to facilitate moisture uptake and timber decking drying out.

Use packers as in tiling to set your desired space between the timber decking boards.

Cupping is caused by the underside of the board having a higher moisture content than the surface, being too close to ground, poor air flow, laid too close to clay type soils or too close to concrete with no drainage.
