Deck-Max™ FAQ's FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the difference from normal carpenters fixing?
This fixing involves a biscuit cutting tool to prepare a lateral cut to the side of the board as preparation for the biscuit fixing and no nails are used. The process is similar to a tongue and groove fit with a 3mm gap.
How much time does it take?
If your carpenter or decking company pre drills and screws the boards the time is around the same. If the company uses a nail gun then this will take more time – however you achieve the perfect finish by using Deck-Max™. The Deck-Max™ system will save you money and time. By using the Deck-Max™ system you use only 30% of the normal fixing compared to nails or screws.
Do we need to change the construction process to use Deck-Max™?
No – all the sub-structure should be built as per the normal building code for your particular job. The Deck-Max™ fixing simply allows you to fix the board in a secret fashion and have no nails heads or screw heads on the top surface of your deck.
Can the Deck-Max™ fixing be used on composite boards?
Yes – The composite boards {Solid Profile Only} and not the hollow decking boards. The lateral biscuit cut is prepared the same way and the stainless screw remains the fixing into the floor joist. The only difference between timber and composite is the manufacturer of each composite board company will have a set spacing for your but joints.
How long will the biscuit last?
The biscuit is fixed with a corrosion resistant 305 stainless screw which is the best quality available and the biscuit itself is made for UV stability, Chemical resistant product and will out last any other system available. By using Deck-Max™ fixing you will obtain a truly long life fixing. The most important question is have you chosen the best timber for the application and has the substructure being built to the building code of practice.
